Lila Garrett passed actually peacefully in California on February 1, 2020
This was not the change she’d hoped for in 2020.
But we are all proud of her efforts to effect the right (or shall we say, left) changes in the world, right up to the moment she passed from it.
Lila did not believe in war, any war, and if you watch the numerous comedies she wrote, produced, directed and acted in,
you’ll find her message layered throughout.
Lila was not a “woman director”… She was just a director.
Born in Brooklyn in 1925, Lila hosted an extremely popular radio show on the no-nonsense station KPFK.
She was not “still working”at ninety-four…She was just working.
And as she taught her kids, April Garrett, Eliza Roberts, and her grandkids, Keaton Simons, Morgan Simons, Arielle Laub, Louie Laub,
and her great granddaughter, Georgia Windsor Simons ~ Right after your kids, your most important love must be your work.
You drove us nuts, Mom…But we’d take the challenge of you over the challenge of losing you any day.
